Collective Engagement

A space conducive to collective action. An open forum environment which allows people to engage with every area of society on the need for radical transformation in South Africa. An opportunity to call for justice, restitution, restoration and ultimately deep reconciliation in our nation.

 

Information Repository

A repository for knowledge and information relating to the immediate context as well as much broader subjects. This would include multiple types of information, both written and digital.

Social Gathering

A space of gathering and socialising for both the permanent and temporal working community. Public spaces are in short supply in the area, and so providing a space which is accessible to all at all hours is critical to the success of the larger precinct.

Technological Hub

A key component of the project will be the provision of technological facilities. This will include access to computers, internet and projectors. These facilities will be critical for students and people who cannot afford to have similair facilities at home.

Cultural Catalyst

Spaces to facilitate public performance and other cultural activites will tie the precinct into similair initiatives in the station drive area. An art gallery will form a key component of the buildings cultural considerations.
