Beta waves relate to our quick daily decision- making and thinking. Rapid spikes respresent quick short thoughts.

The dipteral ancient Greek temple layout. This requires continuous decision making by the user, creating a thought pattern conducive to beta brain waves.

Predominantly active during quiet, flowing thoughts. A shallow state of meditation or even a relaxing creative process would stimulate alpha waves.

S. Maria degli Angeli in Florence was the church of a former monastery. It is composed of a central space with small alcoves around the edges.

A state bordering on sleep or very deep meditation. From this state one is able to experience a deep spiritual experience, the feeling is similair to lucid dreaming.

The Bruder Klaus chapel by Peter Zumthor uses a single dramatic space to create a sense of transcendence. Verticality is the focus.

Perceptual Isolation or sensory deprivation is the deliberate reduction or removal of stimuli from one or more of the senses. Generally this is done through the use of simple devices such as blindfolds or ear muffs, while more complex systems can cut off the sense of smell, touch, taste, thermoception and even gravity.

Short term sessions of perceptual isolation are described as relaxing and conducive to meditation, and its use has been explored in the field of psycho-therapy. Repeated sessions of perceptual isolation have proven to be very effective in dealing with breaking habits such as smoking and alcoholism.
