Tall internal volumes, bold geometric stained glass windows and intricate casework carvings are what characterise this temple in Freetown, Sierra Leone.
This was my second major project in the role of a Project Architect. The compressed timeline required very precise time and resource management for the delivery of the design development and construction drawing packages.
My experience on the Nairobi Temple proved invaluable, and allowed me to approach the project in a strategic manner with key milestones and deliverables throughout the process.
In this project the tower is arranged as a central element rather than being over the entrance. The varied parapet heights create a visual hierarchy drawing the eye towards the entrance portico and gradually stepping up towards the tower.

Granite was selected for the facade cladding due to its strength and resistance to chemical and mechanical weathering. The humid, coastal climate would quickly discolour many other tyes of natural stone.
